 DRIVERS UPBEAT With this weekend’s KCB Micro Banking Rally taking the 2010 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) series to the fifth round, drivers remain enthusiastic of their run in the second half of the season. Rightly so, mechanics are currently having a thorough going-over of their machines just to ensure all is well ahead of the Rift Valley Motor & Sports Club (RVM&SC) round of the KNRC.Alastair Cavenagh, winner of the Meru round and who currently leads the national series by 270 points, intends to add more victories to his belt before the end of the season. |

MOGOTIO AWAITS CREWS Its all systems go as the KCB Micro Banking Rally 2010 gets underway in Mogotio on July 31.The event, co-sponsored by National Oil Corporation, Identisys, Car Track, iWay Africa, ALS and Highlands, is designed to offer competitors some exhilarating displays of rallying artistry.According to Rift Valley Motor & Sports Club (RVMSC) Committee Member Rajvir Raol, the rally will be flagged-off outside the KCB Branch located within Egerton University in Njoro.The first car will be flagged-off at 7.30am. Out of the total distance of 300kms, the competitive mileage is approximated at 157kms. |

KEITH’S MAIDEN WIN
AFTER rounds of aggressive driving, Nairobi based Keith Henrie secured his maiden Kenya National Autocross Championship victory cruising home his buggy in 7.52.45minutes. Henrie, a veteran rally navigator, beat defending champion Steve Anthony by an 8 seconds margin to achieve the feat during the fifth round of the series -organized by Rift Valley Motor and Sports Club (RVM&SC) at the expansive Soysambu Conservancy on Sunday. |

Autox 5 in Soysambu Its all systems go as the Rift Valley Motor & Sports Club round of Kenya National Autocross Championship gets underway at Soysambu on July 17-18. Clerk of the Course, Andy Doig has put a lot of time and effort into organizing a new track in an excellent location in a bid to offer competitors some unique driving. The track site has great potential not only for buggies, but also pikis and 4x4 type events, said Doig. Apart from the actual competition, Doig reckons it will be a great fun weekend. A campsite will be available at Monkey Bridge, next to a river. |

Apollo, Mugo win at Jamhuri AFTER months of trying, outgoing MX65 Champion Apollo Mbuki and MX1 prospect Charles Mugo claimed their maiden wins as the fifth round of the Kenya Motocross Championship came to a dramatic end at Jamhuri Park on Sunday. Apollo, who is making his debut at MX85 this season, had his campaign effectively sewn up when East Africa Champion Ivan Guya ran into mechanical gremlins midway through the third and last heat. David Murigi showed no signs of rust at his MX50 (of bikes up to 50cc) class specialty. He beat Rolf Kihara and Ryan Bailey to the MX50 honors. |
