SUNDAY’S MOTOCROSS MEETING

ADIL Khan, the MX 85 series leader hopes to make a robust attack as he seeks to eclipse Eugene Maina at Sunday’s fourth round Motocross action.

With Davide Bernardi and speedster Ivan Guya away, the battle for MX 85 should no doubt be an Adil-Maina affair in the H20 and Oilibya-sponsored series.

Guya and Davide were injured after falling off their bikes on a jump impact during the third meeting. Consequently, Eugene made his maiden win of the MX85 after winning the third round but he had to play second fiddle to Adil Khan who leapfrogged to the to of the standings at the end of it all.  Adil has been very competitive but drawn aback by prolonged mechanical problems. Maina, on the other hand, is enjoying top form with his new KTM 85 he has been using right from the second round.

Apollo Mbuki should dominate the MX65 he has remained unchallenged in since the season started. Mbuki should be coming through with flying colours. He has been keen to learn new tricks at regional AMUs and this continues to pay off impressively well. Mbuki possesses lots of confidence and energy for his young age.

Murigu Njiiri hopes to maintain his dogged campaign in search of a second championship title this season at MX 50. But he faces stiff challenge from Alistair Diniz and Ryan Bailey, who is son of former rally ace, Paul Bailey.

As the much anticipated MX2 rivalry between cousins Tutu Maina and leader Cruze Muigai failed to take off with the latter’s injury, Cruze is expected to stay ahead of the pack.

Tutu will be riding the 250 four stroke bike for the first time though Cruze appears to have mastered the tricks in 250 four-stroke contraption. It may take Tutu quite some rounds to come to terms with the new bike. Cruze has been practicing on the 250cc bike since November last year and enjoys an advantage as Tutu tries to come to grips with the new machine.

The MX1 will be a walk in the park for Shivam Vinayak. The much anticipated rivalry between former Champion Doungu Smith failed to bear fruits when Shivam easily beat him. Others in the MX1 competition are father and Son Moses and Charles Mugo. Shivam has opted to ride an underpowered 250 four stroke Yamaha to shirk complacency and become competitive in trying to make up for the 250 bike.
