Cavenagh (1999 Kenya Champion) who has been Tundo’s sturdiest challenger in the first half of the season was equally heartbroken when he bashed the rear arms of his Mitsubishi Evolution 9 on the second stage and slipped from third to fifth position in the KNRC table with 215 points. But it has become a common trend in the recent past years that he who wins the Safari Rally has it in the bag. Tundo is the 2009 KCB Safari Rally winner. While Tundo was pondering on how to approach the title race, Jasmeet Chana was only a heartbeat away from the 2WD title. All that Chana needs to do is to finish on the podium position in the KCB Guru Nanak Rally on October 4 and will recapture the title he lost to Leo Varese last year. But should Varese win the remaining two rounds and Chana stumbles then the latter would blow away his chances. Charles Hinga in a Toyota Levin has officially kissed the title chase goodbye and will not surpass the 103 score that Chana has racked up no matter what he does in the last two rounds.
