KEITH WINS AUTO X 4
Keith Henrie's mastery in muddy conditions was peerless as the fourth round of the National Autocross Championship came to a dramatic end at Jamhuri Park.Henrie won his third race of the season enthusiastic that his title campaign was picking up impressively by every race.
Keith won the season opening race at Jamhuri in February, finished third in Ganze and won the next two races in Soysambu and Jamhuri serving up great moments ahead for autocross enthusiasts in the nine-round circuit. Newcomer Jazz Nadhra surprised everyone including himself when he powered his buggy back in second overall position. To Nadhra, the win was a pleasant surprise but his biggest challenge remains the phases of development his buggy has to go through in the next few months. Drivers went out in the mud sliding and struggling on corners the who day but it was Charles Mugo who really drew the first blood with winning the opening heat. Interestingly, Mugo ended up in fifth overall place despite setting the quickest time on his first heat run when he timed 3.04.58 minutes. "It was raining in the first heat when we went through and I really cruised well with minimal sliding," said Mugo. Keith gained two bonus points for setting the fastest time of the day (FTD) in the fourth heat which he cleared in 2.24.54minutes. Keith beat Nadhra by 42 seconds as Samir Khan romped home third on 8.32.94minutes. Shalien Mughal chalked up fourth on 8.53.97minutes as former champion Ricky Aslam settled for sixth. Keith was all smiles after the win. "It feels good to win again. Like I said, I wanted to extend my lead with more championship points. The track conditions weren't favourable to everyone but the driving skill is what made it happen. I have raced in this track under this conditions and I'm used to it. Its just a repeat of what happened long ago," said Keith. Nadhra was happy with his career best position. "Its only my second event in autocross and I'm quite pleased with second position today. The conditions were really tough. I had some good laps and some bad ones too but the good ones made the difference," said Nandra. RESULTS 1. Keith Henrie 7.30.94minutes 2. Jazz Nandra 8.12.62 3.
