NIELSEN, BOULANGER WIN LAST ENDURO AS SHIVAM SAVORS MAIDEN TITLE ![]() Curtains came down on the Kenya National Enduro Championship in Kitengela with three-time former Open Class Champion Anthony Nielsen emerging victorious. Shivam Vinayak savored his 2011 Open class National Enduro Championship title while Shaun Miller was crowned the 125cc class national Enduro Champion. Nielsen went round the 15Kilometers circuit six times, clocking 2.18.01hours thus making his intentions- for the 2012 season- known to his adversaries. The former Motocross Captain showed he has what it takes to ride at the summit of Enduro. Nielsen was all smiles. "The race was quite good but I was very unfit having not competed for a long time. But I will try and do more enduros next year," said Nielsen, who last rode off-road in the season opening Enduro at the start of the year. After the rough and rocky ride, second placed Shivam- who has two previous 125cc Enduro Championships under his belt-said it was a perfect end to the off-road season having already sealed his maiden open enduro championship title at penultimate stage in Masinga Dam and coming second in the season-ender. "I rode with extra caution and finished 2nd on a smaller YZ250cc bike losing time in areas that went well marked," said Shivam, adding: "I hope to cap of my dream season with a win for Kenya at the FIM Central African motocross Championship on December 4 in Nairobi." FIM Africa's Kenya Enduro Captain Sean Pelling sealed the podium dash in Kitengela also managing six laps and 2.27.24 hours but finished 9 minutes behind the leader. For Pelling, Kitengela was a great end to the 2011 Enduro season with 25 riders and many spectators gracing the event. Said he: “The track was challenging and the hot day meant many tired riders. It was great to have Antony (Nielsen) back on the track showing us that he has not lost his renowned skills. I managed to keep Shivam and Anto (Nielsen) in sight, however, a double rear puncture meant 3rd was the best I could do.” Vincent Boulanger won the quads class after posting 5laps and 1.56.37 hours beating Cross Country Champion Shazar Anwar by 11 minutes. Both Shazar and Boulanger did five laps but the former's ride on his new CAN-AM 450xc was a far cry from the Bombadier 650 he has run for three seasons.“The race was good but hard and rough. I enjoyed every bit of it. It was a great event to test my new bike. I am happy to have finished with it on its first outing. The teething problems were that the bike was bit too low and the wheel came loose on many occasions as I hadn't tightened it,” said Shazar. Enduro 6 RESULTS 6: Bikes: 1.
