Lakhani Targets Fourth Title as Rally Raid 2013 kicks off

Three time Kenyan National Rally Raid Champion Nish Lakhani has vowed to fight for his fourth consecutive title when the 2013 season begins around Mount Kenya this weekend. Nish will continue his successful partnership with Teeku Patel in the “Kenya Cat” Landrover V8 hybrid and will lead away a strong field of entries on Saturday.
Nish has proved to be the benchmark for the car section of the Rally Raid Championship for the past few seasons and in 2012 displayed the perfect combination of reliability and pace. With the sport growing rapidly over the past year Nish is aware that 2013 will prove to be a very challenging season. Last year we saw a number of new competitors who had the raw pace but struggled with reliability. Simon Sharpe has been helping me refine the “Kenya Cat” and hopefully the changes will give me the confidence to push harder.
Teeku has also come to understand what is required as far as navigation goes and so we head to the first round in a confident mood!
The opening round of the JCB Ganatra Rally Raid Championship takes place in Naro Moru this weekend. With Rally HQ at the Mount Kenya Leisure Lodge and action on both Saturday and Sunday the event promises plenty of action. Day 1 begins at 1pm this Saturday.
