GUYA, CRUZE AND MURIGI SHINE

The rigors of the newly built Athi River racetrack were mesmerizing to spectators and competitors alike.

With no major upsets recorded at the fourth round of the Kenya National Motocross Championship on Sunday, most leaders were made to fight every inch of the way.

Shivam Vinayak (MX1) and Samir Anwar (MX65) remained the only riders in the eight- leg circuit with a flawless cumulative score after romping home with a maximum 60points.

With an apparently insatiable hunger for success, Shivam was all smiles after victory.

“I felt quite rusty going into the early morning 15 minutes practice session but got back into rhythm when the official heats followed,” explained Shivam.

Cruze ‘Control’ Muigai walked away with the MX2 scalp and had his campaign effectively sewn-up when his cousin Tutu Maina ran into mechanical gremlins.

Tutu fell off his four stroke KTM bike in the third heat, won in the second heat but had to contend with playing second fiddle to Muigai when his bike ceased in the first heat blast.

Tutu, however, expressed fears that other riders in the middle pack were closing in as fast.

“ Its going to be hard in the coming events because many riders have upped their game to the extent that me and Cruze are finding it hard to stay away from them,” said Tutu.

Cruze and Mx85 winner Ivan Guya looked fairly enthusiastic though the menacing opposition meant that they had no choice but to up their ante.

Outgoing Mx65 Champion, Apollo Mbuki (KTM85) exhibited occasional flashes of brilliance amid bouncing back from the first two heats to beat Guya in the third. Guya collected 57points beating Apollo by a mere three points . The fifth round will be held on July 4.
