Rally Queens ready for Voi Rally

Samira Khan and Chantal Young, together affectionately referred to as “The Rally Queens” , are all set for this weekends KCB Voi Rally, Round 3 of the 2013 KCB Kenya Rally Championship. The girls will once again be competing in their Kenya Airways Ford Escort Mk1 in the Classic section of the rally.
The Voi Rally is crucial to the Rally Queens plans for 2013 as the area will be used twice on the forthcoming world famous East African Safari Classic, an event which Samira is hoping to contest for the second time. In 2011 Samira become only the second woman, after Michele Mouton, to finish this gruelling nine day marathon.
Her plans for 2013 are to contest as many of the national rallies across Kenya as possible before stripping the 1969 Ford Escort and completely rebuilding the car in preparation for the November event. As such Samira is understandably excited about this weekend; Voi is the start of our Classic Safari plans and it’s a beautiful area and always a well organized event so both Chantal and I are really excited about this weekend.
Nyeri was tough for us as I hadn’t driven the car in a very long time and then a lot of the route was cancelled for us. Hopefully we can put on a good show this weekend!
The KCB Voi Rally takes place on Saturday 11 May. The ceremonial start is at KCB Voi branch from 8am and the event ends at Voi Safari Lodge from approximately 5pm. Action occurs in the surrounding areas and incorporates high speed stages along the boundaries of the famous Tsavo National Park as well as the scenic Taita Hills.
