1. JAMES WHYTE/PHIL ARCHENOUL ZIMBABWE (SUBARU N10)
-Jamie Whyle and Phil Aurchenoul live in Harare Zimbabwe . - Aurchenoul is a former navigator to former African Rally Champion Conrad Rautenbach. -The two are smarting from winning the 2009 Kobil Rally of Tanzania in February. -Jamie and Phil lead the ARC series with 10 points -Both Phil and Jamie are the 2009 KCB East African Rally Challenge (EARC) champions. -Both won their maiden ARC event last year during the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally when locals Emmanuel Katto and Riyaz Kurji retired

 

 

 

 

2. MUNA SINGH/DAVID SIHOKA ZIMBABWE (SUBARU N10)
- Lusaka based Muna is a two-time ARC Champion . - David Sihoka has won the ARC navigator’s crown thrice - Sihoka was the 2007 ARC Navigator Championship and received an award at the FIA motor sports Awards in Monaco, France . - They are avid participants of the African Rally Championship series and one of the most regular crew. -They had quite a bad start in the ARC when they retired in the 2008 Kobil Rally of Tanzania where they retired with Front suspension damage. -Muna is nephew to former multiple ARC champion Satwant Singh -Satwant Singh was navigated by 2009 KCB Safari Rally Chairman of Organizing Committee Sunrinder Thatthi to victory in three ARC titles in -Both won the 2008 Kobil/Alliance/KCB Rally in Dar es Salaam

 

 

3. LEE ROSE/PIERS DAYKIN (TRITON PETROLEUM RALLY TEAM ) Mitsubishi EVO9
-2008 KCB Safari Rally winner -Wheat farmer by profession -Based in Menengai and is the farm manager at their family’s farm in Gicheha -Makes a comeback after skipping the opening round of the KCB KNRC-The KCB Biasahara Banking Rally -The fastest driver in the KCB KNRC series so far retirements in the KCB Western Union Rally and KCB Easy Pay Loan Rally -Twice KNRC Champion in 2003 and 2004 -Piers and Lee were high-school buddies at Kenton College -perfected his driving lines through riding motorbikes at their farm -Rose is the 1993 motor sportsman of the year -Three time Motocross champion

NICK NAME: Flash or Carl “The Jackal” -2007 KCB KNRC Champion -His new car is an ex-Lola Valeque -Leads the 2009 KCB KNRC series after winning the 2009 KCB Biashara banking rally in Eldoret - Wheat farmer by profession - 2005 motor sports personality-of-the-year - 2004 KCB Safari Rally winner in Mombasa -Tundo runs their grain handling silo facility at Lesiolo Grain Handlers Company in Lanet. -Top placed Kenyan in the 2007 KCB Safari Rally behind overall winner Zimbabwean Conrad Rautenbach -Keen to keep the name of Dalbit Petroleum flying high in battle of fuel companies in the absence of teammate and best friend Alastair cavenagh who rolled in Nanyuki -Navigator Tim Jessop was born in Mombasa and grew up around rallying machines -Jessop’s dad worked for AVA and ran the rallying section where he prepared and serviced the rally cars for Ian Duncan, Johnny Hellier, and David Horsey. -Jessop is the Deputy General Manager for Hughes Motors, a division of CMC Motors in Kenya . -Jessop has never rallied with any driver apart from "Flash"

-On of the fastest drivers in the Safari rally -Retired in the 2008 safari rally -Has won Mombasa rally twice -Sponsored by Alpha Fine Foods -Renowned for his fearless and flat-out style of driving -Won back-to-back titles in Mombasa RAlly in 2006 and 2007 -Failed in his bid to make a hat trick of wins in Mombasa during the KCB Visa Card rally in Kilifi -Retired while leading the pack at the KCB Pearl of Africa Rally 2008 in -Was one of the fastest drivers in Kenya when he did two full KCB KNRC > seasons in 2005 and 2006

7. ALASTAIR CAVENAGH/SALEEM HAJI (MITSUBISHI EVO 9)
-Alastair is the 1999 Kenya National rally Champion -Renown for his fearless and flat-out attitude of driving -Lies 2nd in the KNRC series with 60points -Member of the Dalbit Petroleum team previously sponsored by WEC Lines on this event -Alastair and his brother Adrian became the first pair of brothers to win a rally after Joginder and trailed the blaze it in 1965. -Alastair was born in Wales. -He is into tea and petroleum business -Lives in Nairobi -Saleem Haji is a former navigator to legendary Ian Duncan

8. AZAR ANWAR/ JULIUS NGIGI (OILIBYA RALLY TEAM ) MITSUBISHI EVO 8
-At 54, Azar Anwar is a never-say-die MZEE WA KAZI -Only driver to clinch both the KNRC and Group N titles thrice in 1998, 2005 and 2006 -Won back-to-back KCB KNRC titles in 2005 and 2006 -Participated in 2008 KCB/Kobil/ Alliance Rally of Tanzania in February and retired with engine failure -Won the KCB Safari Rally in 2006 with George Mwangi -Teams up with his younger brother Asad and Baldev Chager in the Oillibya Team colors this year -Has nurtured countless drivers in his career and recently incepted the Rally Training Programme together with veteran drivers and navigators.

-Navigator Moses Matovu resides in Dar es Salaam -Emma Katto and co-driver Moses Matovu settled for second place in the 2009 Kobil Rally of Tanzania . -Katto was born in Uganda on 09 Nov 1958 -Lives in Ghana and Uganda -Marital Status: Married to Naomi, 2 daughters and 2 sons Junior and Shaun. Katto is an Electricity Service Provider Katto’s Hobbies are Rallying , Cricket, Tennis and football -

-One KNRC career win during 2006 KCB Mavuno Loan Rally in Nanyuki -Finished 4th at the 2008 Safari Du Congo Rally in DRC last month -Rolled in the 2008 KCB Visa Card Rally in Kilifi -Has two overnight leads during the 2008 KCB Safari Rally and the KCB Biashara Banking Rally at Embu Stadium -Three retirements - during KCB Simba Savings Rally, KCB Safari Rally with gearbox problems and KCB Visa Card rally in Kilifi where he rolled -Finished 4th in the 2008 KCB Biashara Banking Rally -Was Time barred in the 2008 KCB Simba Savings Rally last season when he stopped on transport to repair a broken ball joint -Participated in 2008 KCB/Kobil/ Alliance Rally of Tanzania in February and retired with engine failure -Teams up with elder brother Azar Anwar and Balkdev Chager in the Oilibya Team with a sponsorship of 10million -100% finish in 2007 with the *Mitsubishi EVOLUTION 7 he sold the EVO 7 to Quinton Mitchell -Racing on an ex-Omar Bakhressa N11 Subaru in the 2008 season -Has acquired an EVO 9 from Australia

11. LOLA VALEQUE/ MEAGAN VAKLEQUE -RSA (OILIBYA RALLY TEAM ) VW POLO S-2000
-Lola Verlaque is set to maintain her status as one of the quickest lady drivers in the African Continent. -The South African sisters have incidentally moved to the Volkswagen Polo S2000 after years at the wheels of the Subaru Impreza which is now with Carl Tundo. -They want to finish the Safari in a good position

 

 

12. NAVRAJ HANS/FRANK GITAU (EVO 9)
-Navraj Hans is a Tanzania driver going for the Pirelli Star driver honors -A number of retirements in Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally and Safari rally stymied his Pirelli ambitions last season -Teams up with veteran Kenyan navigator Frank Gitau -Hans lines in the UK - Frank Gitau’s reign as the top Kenyan navigator in the Kobil Rally Tanzania lasted three sections before bowing out with a blown differential pump in the newly acquired Mitsubishi Lancer. -His driver Hanns Navraj will have to start all over again in the KCB Safari Rally to revive his plans of qualifying for the Pirelli finals in the Kigali capital later in the year.

16. GIANCARLO DAVITE/SYLVIA VINDEVOGEL –RAWANDA (SUBARU IMPRERA N11
-Giancarlo Davite / Sylvia Vindevogel retired in the Kobil Rally of Tanzania when they went off road and damaged their car’s suspension damage -The two are excited to have a feel of the KCB Safari rally

17. PETER HORSEY/ CRISPIN SASSOON (EVO 9)
-Peter Horsey is based in Uganda -A contender in the Pirelli Star driver promotion -Was a top Contender for the Pirelli star promotion last year but lost out to South Africa Jon Williams on the last rally in Zambia -Led the 2008 FIA Pirelli Africa Star Driver Promotion into the last round in Lusaka but mechanical problems ended his campaign -Back to compete in Kenya after the KCB Safari Rally in which he had a big battle with Alfir Khan in the Pirelli Star Driver Promo.- Son of veteranRally driver and former Africa champion David Horsey from Mombasa 8.

-John Llyod is no stranger to Kenyan events -He has been participating in safari rallies and the KQ EA Safari Classic events -His navigator Adrian is a brother to 1999 Kenya Rally champion Alastair cavenagh

19. SUSHEEL SHAH/ ABDUL SIDI -(LANDIS RALLY TEAM ) EVO 9
-Won the 2007 Tanveer Alam Memorial Trophy for the most improved driver -Coming in with a new car EVO 9 after Raji Bharij acquired his Subaru N10 -Skipped the 2009 KCB Biashara Banking Rally as he finalized arrangements to fly in the new car --Retired in the 2008 KCB S&L Rally last month with suspension problem -One of the fastest rising drivers -Skipped first rally in Iten as he was finalizing arrangements to fly in his new EVO -His old N10 Subaru is being driven by Raji Bharij -Finished 4th overall in the KCB Visa card rally in Kilifi last month -Susheel’s Navigator Abdul Sidi used to navigate for Patrick Njiru in the 1990s.. -Finished 10th overall in the 2008 KCB Simba Savings Rally in Suswa -Susheel had 100% finish record in 2007 - BEST CAREER PERFORMANCE was 2nd overall at the muddy 2007 KCB Visa Card Rally in Athi River -Finished 4th overall in 2007 KCB KNRC with 281points.

23. ALFIR KHAN/FEISAL KHAN -(MOODEY TEAM ) Subaru Impreza N10
-Alfir Khan participated in virtually all the rounds of the FIA 2008 African Rally Championship -He was a strong contestant for the 2008 FIA Pirelli Africa youngster Championship that he led after the KCB Safari Rally only to lose to Jon Williams of South Africa -Finished joint 6th with South African Lola Valeque in the 2008 FIA African Rally Championship with 12 points -Finished 11th in the KCB East African Rally Challenge with 12points -Khan is now being sponsored by S&L which is a subsidiary of KCB - Khan hopes to enlist for the Pirelli star driver series next year
